Chris Gayle is in St Vincent to meet with top WICB officials

Chris Gayle, the West Indies batsman, is scheduled to meet officials from the West Indies Cricket Board and CARICOM in St Vincent on Monday to discuss his future with the West Indies team. The Jamaica Gleaner has reported that Gayle is likely to either submit an apology or retract his comments made against the board and the coach Ottis Gibson during a radio interview.

“A meeting has been arranged for tomorrow morning (today) between Gayle, the WICB and a few heads of government in a bid to arrive at an amicable solution that could result in Gayle returning to the team,” Fritz Harris, the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) secretary, was quoted as saying in the paper.

“As we are all aware, there have been efforts to have the matter resolved in recent weeks, including all the workings coming out of CARICOM etc, and I suspect that this meeting is a sort of culmination of the efforts.”

India protests Pak spinner Ajmal’s suspect action after Mirpur ODI win

The Indian cricket team management has reportedly approached the International Cricket Council (ICC) to express its doubts over Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal’s suspect bowling action.The Indian team management approached ICC CEO Haroon Lorgat on the issue after its win against Pakistan in the Asia Cup on Sunday.

This is the second time in 2012 that Ajmal’s action has been questioned. Earlier this year, England had complained against Ajmal during their Test series loss to Pakistan.The ICC says that it has cleared the bowler on a previous occasion.ICC Chief Haroon Lorgat said that there is no problem with Ajmal’s bowling action.

Lorgat said that from a naked eye it looks different and technically it looks different. So, technically Ajmal’s action is within the 15 degree bent bowling arm limit.Former Indian left-arm spinner Bishan Singh Bedi said that the ICC is officially endorsing chucking in cricket.
